Let’s face it – us Welsh rugby fans need some sort of cheer up after another disappointing 4 place finish in this year’s 6 Nations tournament. There were plenty of negatives to take from it, but let us instead look for some positives now that I have managed to calm down a little and no longer feel the need to run down half the squad and management using a super charged golf buggy with spikey bits attached to it.
Positives for Welsh Rugby

The very first international I ever got to go to was at the Arms Park, Wales vs Western Samoa in the 1991 World cup. And we know how that turned out. So from that point of view I am very glad we dodged a bullet from our bogey team.
But outside that? Not good enough.
Firstly let’s try give some positives. I still think that if it wasn’t for some over eager 20 year olds we would have won that game by 20 points. If Warburton had …

The Cardiff Blues have named their team to take on the Ospreys in Saturdays big Welsh derby match. The big news is the welcome return of star flanker Martyn Williams – in time for game time before the autumn internationals.
Paul Tito also returns from injury and is selected on the bench. Promising young flanker Sam Warburton is selected on the blindside with ‘nugget’ returning whilst Gareth Cooper regains a starting spot from Richie Rees at scrum half.
With the Welsh squad for the autumn internationals being named the day after a …

Cardiff Blues Team
The huge Cardiff Blues injury list has hit even harder with Xavier Rush missing out on the Heineken Cup clash away at Sale. The flu bug that struck him, Tom Shanklin and Sam Warbuton has ruled him out – though both Shanklin and Warburton have recovered to resume their places in the team following on from the win against the Harlequins.
With Rush out the backrow has been rejigged, Robin Snowden-Taylor comes in on the openside flank, Andy Powell moves to number 8 and Sam Warburton moves over to …

To add to the huge amount of injury worries that the Cardiff Blues currently have there have been hit by more bad news – a flu bug.
Blues’ stars Xavier Rush, Sam Warburton and Tom Shanklin are currently suffering from flu like symptoms, which is a big blow to the injury hit squad.
When you consider that they are already without Martyn Williams, Paul Tito, John Yapp, Bradley Davies, Gareth Thomas and Molitika for this match these are players that will be needed. Xavier has been Cardiff’s best player for a long …

Interesting battle this game, at times anyway. Injury ravaged Cardiff Blues just overcome Harlequins 20 – 6 (trust me, it was closer than the score suggests) in the Heineken Cup at the Leckwith Stadium. But it came at a cost.
The game itself was mostly uninspiring, but it did have a few good moments. The Tom James try early in the 2nd half was a great example, with some very good play by Sam Norton-Knight and Jamie Roberts in particular. Some offloading work this game too. …

The Cardiff Blues have named their side for the Welsh rugby derby match vs the Scarlets, including Sam Norton-Knight – which should cheer up a lot of cardiff fans (not).
That half back combination is enough to make a grown man cry.

It is unclear if the Welsh rugby management are allowing Welsh players to play abroad and still be selected for the national squad
There is real concern that such a move would mean an exodus of young Welsh players to rugby clubs in France and England who can offer more money and opportunities than Welsh sides can
But it is not just youngsters leaving that we would be concerned by should this rule be removed… there are other, bigger issues that could cause major problems within our game in Wales. Read on to learn more
