Some Plus Points From the 6 Nations

Let’s face it – us Welsh rugby fans need some sort of cheer up after another disappointing 4 place finish in this year’s 6 Nations tournament. There were plenty of negatives to take from it, but let us instead look for some positives now that I have managed to calm down a little and no longer feel the need to run down half the squad and management using a super charged golf buggy with spikey bits attached to it.
Positives for Welsh Rugby

Bradley Davies.  Was immense in his first game, …

Wales vs France – the Aftermath

One thing is certain – being a Welsh rugby fan is not good for your blood pressure. After yet another attempted late comeback us Wales fans were yet again disappointed. The word again is starting to take on special significance here, because it is the same thing every time.
Friends are making jokes about it. Because that is what this has become, a joke. On the one hand we have shown we have the talent to dominate periods of matches, to take the game to them. …

Alun Wyn Jones Out of the 6 Nations

Well here’s a big blow. Just as we were coming to terms with the Andy Powell golf buggy incident (by coming to terms I of course mean stopping laughing), and his subsequent dropping from the 6 Nations squad we now find ourselves another forward down – this time in the shape of lock Alun Wyn Jones.
The elbow injury he sustained vs Scotland has ruled him out of the 6 Nations, with a likely lay off time of 12 weeks (disappointingly also missing the Osreys’ Heineken Cup quarter final in …

Welsh captain Ryan Jones has pulled out of the Wales vs Australia game tomorrow with a back problem he suffered in training on Tuesday.
This is a MAJOR loss for Wales as far as I am concerned.  On one hand we have a backrow that is far more balanced now.  Andy Powell has been moved to 8, his natural position.  That is great news in itself as he has been truly shocking at 6 and Gatland must have been mad to pick him there in the first place.  Dan Lydiate coming …

Cardiff Blues 2nd row Bradley Davies and Llanelli Scarlets full back Morgan Stoddart have both pulled out of the Welsh squad. Bradley Davies was due to be on the bench for the clash with the ‘Pumas’.
Bradley Davies injured his ankle on Tuesday and will be replaced on the Welsh bench by Jonathon Thomas, the Ospreys blindside flanker who has been playing most of his rugby at 2nd row this season.
Stoddart has a hamstring tear which will see him having to go tthrough 2 to 3 weeks rehabilitation.
No decision yet made …

How Wales can Beat the All Blacks

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, facing New Zealand is a difficult task, even if they are not at the top of their game right now. And facing them whilst missing some very important, very influential, players makes life even more difficult.
But I have seen on forums, twitter, etc people saying this is an impossible task… and I have to disagree.
In my mind rugby at international level is as poor as it has been for quite a long time. Australia are struggling, New Zealand don’t look anywhere near …

Cardiff Blues, Heineken Cup, News »

The Cardiff Blues victory over the Harlequins in the Heineken cup came at a cost with a number of players picking up injuries.
John Yapp tore his bicep and is out for at least four months and will have an operation this week.
Bradley Davies suffered a soft tissue neck injury and will be out for at least two weeks.
Gareth Thomas’ injury is not as bad as first thought but he will not be training for at least 10 days with a groin injury, so realistically he will be out for two …
