Future Plans for the Blog

I’ve been pondering exactly where I am planning on taking this blog, what I’m planning on doing with it.  With 6 weeks to go till the new season (thats aaaaages) I was thinking this is a good time to put in place some new ideas – before the season starts and we get caught up in the fun, frolics and disappointments (well it is Welsh rugby after all) that it entails.

So rather than simply add them I thought I’d tell everyone what I was thinking and that way you can tell me if I am just being daft.  Well ok, I am always being daft, but you can tell me if I am being even more daft than normal.

New Series

I’ve been thinking of adding a couple of new series’ of posts to the blog, much like I have started to do with the Welsh rugby profiles. Regular or irregular posts on certain subjects. Here are some of what I am considering3feathers

  1. Western Mail Watch“. I know it’s out national paper but the level of reporting an opinion that the Western Mail manages to give on Welsh rugby is appalling.  Even more appalling than my spelling.  Now I make no pretence to be a rugby genius, and I certainly don’t know the ins and outs of politics, but I can tell my arse from my elbow – which puts me ahead of some of the Western Mail writers.  So I was thinking of doing a series following the worst articles that the Western Mail manages to spew into our rugby reading.
  2. Rugby Blog Reviews” Reviewing various rugby blogs and websites.  Pretty self explanatory – a quick review of various rugby blogs and gives people a chance to check out some rugby sites they may not have come across before.
  3. Interviews.  Unlikely to be with players as frankly I don’t have the contacts, though I am considering trying to get an interview or two if I can.  i was thinking more with fans and other rugby bloggers – get what other people think on certain subjects.  I like to think I’m as interesting as the next man (assuming the next man is a boring physics professor) but it would be good to hear other peoples thoughts on the site.
  4. Match Previews.  Highlighting how I think the Welsh rugby matches would go.  Possibly coupled with some betting tips as I do like a flutter, and amazingly do pretty well over the course of a season.
  5. Newsletter – probably combining some of the above.  Some form of weekly newsletter with content taken from a variety of ideas.  Would you sign up to one?
  6. Podcasts.  I am very loathe to do this – I have a speaking voice that would put an insomniac to sleep from 20 paces.  But it does seem all the rage and could be good fun.  Might see if I can convince others to give it a go.  We’ll see.
  7. Forums.  A few people have asked if I plan on introducing one and the answer is an almost definite no.  I have no objection to forums, far from it.  But there are some excellent rugby ones already in existence.  I love posting on Rugby Rebels myself (I Mod there under the name Mr Wall – also where I met the girlfriend amazingly) and Gwlad is a top class Welsh rugby forum as well.

So what do you think?  Would any of those plans interest you?  Very interesting to see what people think before implementing them.  Will post a poll shortly, please do vote for the plans that would interest you the most – you can select more than one answer (assuming I can work out how to do that!).
