Welsh Rugby Blog Updates, Welsh Rugby Profiles »

[15 Jul 2009 | No Comment | ]

Batten down the hatches because… they might blow about in the wind and keep you up at night, and no one wants that.
In other news I shall be looking to put together some ‘Welsh rugby profiles’ over the next few weeks and months.  It seems to me that people searching for this blog are often looking for information on one of the players rather than to read me rant about the latest bit of Welsh rugby news.  I know it’s hard to believe but it does seem that way.
So who …

Welsh Rugby Blog Updates »

[15 Jul 2009 | 6 Comments | ]

As you know just about all the posts on this blog have been related to Welsh rugby in some shape or form.  Yes they have been my personal opinions, but they are themed on the one aspect.
Now I am starting on a new weight loss campaign for me.  It is a bit of an issue as I suffer from CFS (see how open I’m being here, I really should stop disclosing) but between dieting and exercise I am hoping to cut my weight down – which shouldn’t be hard as …

Best Wishes to John Hartson

It may not be related to Welsh rugby but I just wanted to give all my best wishes to John Hartson, the Welsh footballer.
He was diagnosed with testicular and brain cancer over the weekend. It seems things are even worse than first thought, with the cancer having also been detected in his lungs.
A Morriston NHS spokesman had this to say
“He is currently being cared for by the critical care team at Morriston and is receiving round-the-clock care aiming to stabilise his condition.
“Unfortunately, cancer has now also been diagnosed in …

Simon Easterby is the new Scarlets forwards coach

Simon Easterby has been appointed the Scarlets forwards coach – and is far from the first player coach the Welsh Wales rugby region has appointed in its time.

But whilst the ‘old boy network’ may be alive and well this appointment has at least a chance of being a great choice. Easterby is a quality player who commands respect and admiration from the public and his fellow pros.

He has a hell of a job on his hands, trying to turn the Scarlets pack into a real force – but he has a fighting chance with the likes of David Lyons available to him. Fingers crossed he can manage it.

After congratulating Garin Jenkins on his new job it seems I have some other congratulations to say – and thankfully a rugby blog to say it on!
First up congratulations to Welsh captain Ryan Jones on getting married over the weekend.  A shame that the weather couldn’t have been better for him but all the photos show him looking a happy man, and with a beautiful bride, so all the best wishes from the Welsh Rugby Blog.
Also congratulations to Shane Williams, and of course Mrs Williams, as reports have started saying …

Just in case you live in a cave and this is your only source of Welsh rugby news… get out and have a bath. And a shave.  And explain to me how you are reading a website come to that.
For the rest of you (if there are any) I’m sure you are aware that this seasons Magners League fixtures have been announced.  Rather than pointlessly retyping them here (and therefore creating far too much work for myself) just go check out them on the Magners league website.
I shall be ranting …

Not sure how but it seems that the news of Garin Jenkins getting a new job within the Ospreys has passed me by.  A few days away form the computer and apparently the world doesn’t stop for you, who’d have thought it!
Garin is now in charge of developing elite talent at the Ospreys – or at least that’s how I read it.  Check out this article on the ospreys website and make up your own mind!
The reason I wanted to say congratulations is simply because Garin Jenkins is  huge hero …

Having a debate about Gavin Henson on Twitter and it seems I have hit a snag in my memory.  I can’t seem to remember a poor game has has played when at 12.  Quiet games yes, but never a poor one.
Obviously there are plenty of poor games in other positions – when he came on at 10 for Stephen Jones against Ireland in 2006 for example.  It’s just that I can’t think of a single bad game from the inside center position.
So can people help me out here?  When has …

Gavin Henson – Some Facts

Why is it that Gavin Henson has so many people determined to make him seem like a bad guy?

Like all players he has made his fair share of mistakes, it is just that being Gavin henson means they get magnified beyond all proportion.

But ignoring all that lets look at some facts as to just what Gavin henson has achieved in his time in Welsh rugby, odds are it is more than you thought.
