Tiatia Retires

Filo Tiatia, one of the Osprey’s kiwi backrow players, has announced that he is going to retire at the end of the season.

At 38 it might be expected but it is a loss. And as an Ospreys fan all I can say is ‘thank you Filo’.

As far as I am concerned he is one of the first of the Ospreys legends that will go down in folklore. He is inspirational and hardhitting on the pitch. I know when he first signed I wasn’t much of a fan, concerned his discipline was going to be a major problem. I was wrong.

He continues on at the Liberty as contact coach, with some rumours his role may be more encompassing next season as he becomes a full time coach. To many O’s fans that is good news as, like Dan Baugh over in Cardiff, he is a foreign flanker who we identified with, and in many cases idolised.

So cheers for the memories Tiatia, let’s hope we can sign you out, playing wise at least, on a high.
