So What Happened to the Promised Welsh Plan B?

Howley and co promised us that they had recognized our limited play, that they had taken steps to vary things – that they had an effective plan B in place.  I even wrote a blog post about what I thought it was going to be, based on what they told us.

I was wrong, Howley lied.  We didn’t have a plan B, we had the same plan A we have had since they took over.

It’s not working

Teams have us figured out. Don’t get me wrong we are still good enough to challenge most teams, but we’re not going to win games against the big teams based entirely on hitting people as hard as we can – which is a lot of plan A.

We’re not threatening the tryline, we are not testing defences, we are not hitting from a number of angles. We are simply predictable.warren gatland sean edwards

So where is that plan B we were promised? When are we going to start really making defences react to us?

As Jonathon Davies said, Stephen Jones, Roberts and Shanklin in a midfield is too one dimensional. Without Henson we need to find other outlets for creativity – and on current form with the Ospreys the answer is James Hook at 12. Something I was against before but have been proven wrong on.

Some come on Welsh management, stop thinking we can hit hard enough and that is all, give us some creativity.
