First up a quick one – did you know Wales are currently losing to England and Ireland? We have less followers in this Facebook group than the English or Irish have in theirs – so hit the “like” button and tell your friends – we can’t lose to the English, can we?
Ospreys Suffer 2 Big Losses
Heineken Cup is here and the Ospreys have a big double header vs Munster… lose both these and there is no hope of making the quarter finals. Which fo course means that the Ospreys must be desperate to get out their first XV.
However that is not to be as they have suffered to losses to some of their most important players
Following his actions on the weekend Marty Holah has been banned for 2 weeks meaning he will miss both games. This is a huge loss for the Ospreys who don;t have any experienced openside cover.
Justin Tipuric has looked very good when he has played but is untested at anything approaching this level, and Ben Lewis is still out injured with a neck injury (I thought he was meant to be back by now?). Given how Holah has been playing (in my opinion one of the best 7′s in Europe) this is a major blow.
Lee Byrne Injured
Almost as big a loss for the Ospreys is the news that Lee Byrne has picked up another injury, ruling him out of both games. He has fractured a thumb.
Incidentally it seems he has been a naughty boy – missing medical appointments so no one was quite sure as to the extent of the injury… but it is now confirmed he will be out of both Heineken Cup games.
This leaves the Ospreys either with Barry Davies who has limited rugby since his comeback, Gareth Owen who has, in my opinion, proven he is not up to playing 15 at regional level, Tom Prydie who they given next to no game time at all to, or James Hook who they need at 12. Not an ideal situation at all.
So it seems the Ospreys are destined to suffer vs Munster and will be out of the Heineken Cup before Christmas (in all but name anyway). Hope they can prove me wrong but these 2 losses make a difficult job all but impossible.
My fingers are crossed
