Worcester Warriors have extended Mike Ruddocks contract to 2011. The ex-Swansea and Welsh rugby head coach has signed on the dotted line extending the contract by a year – a lot better negotiating than happened in ‘Ruddockgate’ in Wales in 2006!
Interesting for me as there had been rumours that Mike was on his way out due to Worcester not exactly getting any success at all despite spending big, though they have had awful luck with injuries.
I know he is not everybodies cup of tea in Wales after his dramatic departure from Welsh rugby, many rumours, insults, claims and counter claims have been circulated about his time in Wales. But for me he is a quality bloke who coached me quite a few times in my time as a youngster with schools and representitive sides – always coached and related to youths well.
Fingers crossed he will take off with the Warriors now his injury worries seem to be easing – Rico Gear is returning for their trip to take on Leicester in the Guiness Premiership. A mid table finish would be seen as progress by all but the most blinkered of fans.
