Good news for the Dragons, Martyn Thomas, the flying fullback, should be back fit for the new season.
Martyn Thomas has recovered from a nasty break on his leg and is going to be fit for the new season. With news as to the extent of Jason Tovey’s injury not yet announced this could well be an important development.
Whilst Jamie Smith is a new signing at fullback, the pace of the two of them could allow for cover for Aled Brew on the wing should he be off on Wales duty. This is important with Will Harries, the Welsh international wing, likely to be out until December.
With Adam Hughes looking to focus on playing in the centre, especially with the Dragons letting Rhodri Gomer-Davies go to the Scarlets, the wing slot is a problem position – and having two swift back 3 players able to move to the wing could be very useful as the season progresses.
Given his injury problems we certainly hope that Martyn Thomas gets a good run of games. He certainly deserves it.
