I am normally reluctant to post about a game straight after, as I always get a tad carried away. But as I have not been putting up enough posts these days I thought I better dive right in and give some initial, quick thoughts.
Rather than go into depth a quick positive and negative round up is in order
Positives
- Lydiate especially, and Geth looked good on their returns
- Shingler looked good (though as a 6, not 7)
- Ryan Jones was superb at 2nd row
- Cuthbert was a real threat
- Our line speed and defence
- The threat of our ball carriers
- Halfpenny on the wing
- We won
- Some good tries
Negatives
- Phillips’ first half performance
- Lack of out and out 7 meant we didn’t put their ball under any pressure
- Davies still refuses to pass too often
- North’s injury
- Halfpenny looked like he could be vulnerable under high ball
- Without the yellow cards we were having problems breaking down defence
