Prop Gethin Jenkins and outside half Stephen Jones are expected to be fit ahead of Wales’ clash with our bogey side Samoa this weekend.
Gethin, who has not played any rugby since January, has recovered from a variety of injuries, including a calf problem and toe surgery. Stephen Jones pulled out ahead of Wales’ clash with England in the World Cup warm up games after also suffering a calf injury during the warm up.
Wales expect both of them to be able to get through a full training session tomorrow (Tuesday).
“Both Stephen and Gethin will be fully integrated into the training programme this week,” said WRU national medical performance manager Prav Mathema.
“And, if they come through the periods of high intensity training, we would expect to make them both available to the selectors ahead of this weekend’s game.”
If Stephen Jones does play then he will break the record caps for Wales, which he currently holds joint with Gareth Thomas on 100 caps. Gethin would be winning his 77th cap if he gets on the field.
