The Pro12 teams if they join will be real second citizens, if they done they'll be damned.

The English and French wont be able to work together, Their self importance will ensure that it will be a short term love affair.

RE: Catastrophe!
On the other hand, if the English, French and Irish teams leave we have half a chance of a semi-final. Glass half full ...

RE: Catastrophe!
The greatest threat to the Pro12 teams is that just a few will join the Anglo/French cup, amongst them maybe two or three Welsh teams, the same for Irish and one Scottish side.
THat would destroy the Pro12.

RE: Catastrophe!
I don't see the point of the Anglo-French Cup or whatever it will be called.

The great thing about the Heineken is that you can call yourself European Champion. If you haven't got at least Ulster, Leinster, Munster and Ospreys in then you basically have nothing as far as I can see.

RE: Catastrophe!
Not the first time that England have pulled out, but this time the French have thrown their lot in with them in a joint walk-out.
It doesn't necessarily mean the end of the Pro-12 t yearshough.

For any of the regions/provinces/Scottish/Italians the Heineken Cup and it's potential replacement will only represent a small number of guaranteed matches in the year, as the English and French teams will still have to compete in their own leagues.

The non-French/English teams will still need competition in between European rounds most likely against each other, so the Pro-12 still make's sense.

No region could go it alone without risking the WRU or the Pro-12 expelling them, and where would that leave them ?

It is really a case of they need us as much as we need them. Even if they do clear off we could have a cup competition with the South Africans - it was seriously considered agood few back partly due to the similarities in time zones.

See above - IRB and ERC need to give approval to any cross-border competitions. Can't see how the English and French are negotiating from a position of strength.
