New Irish coach?
It now looks odds on that Declan Kidney will be out very soon, after quite an illustrious career that took Ireland to a grand slam.
But performances from his team, ravished by injuries, have led thew IRFU to the point of showing him the door.
Question............who will replace him?

Mike Ruddock anyone?

RE: New Irish coach?
Yes this one has been in the pipeline for a while.

Wife (and kids) are Irish, coached a province, U-20s and current All-Ireland League Leaders, not to mention a Grand Slam winning coach who's not likely to clear off to Wales.

Seems to be well thought of in IRFU, so I would have thought that he would have been a very likely candidate.

Interesting if it does happen and Gats does return after the Lions ( where else could he go?), we could see the ex-Ireland coach vs the ex-Wales coach, both of whom would have scores to settle with their respective former employers.

RE: New Irish coach?
given the current state of Irish rugby there will only be one winner then.

Could never understand why Mike Ruddock departed from the Wales job; perhaps he forgot to call someone *sir*. He would be favourite, and one of the outsiders could be Sean Holley.

Shocked RE: New Irish coach?
A certain Irish legend of the game will probably announce his retirement at the end of this season, The public will demand that he is immediately appointed as Irelands coach no coaching experience is irrelevant, he will be seen as their saviour only to soon fall out of favour just like Martin Johnson did in England.

RE: New Irish coach?
Imagine if Ruddock were to get the job, up against his "old" side AND up against his old adversary Scott Johnson.............very interesting.

RE: New Irish coach?
According to several tomes he is the favoured candidate, personally I'm a little unsure about his suitability, seems good as a second IC but not as head man.

A smile will make others smile, a frown will live alone.

RE: New Irish coach?
Being a sentimentalist I would go for Brian O'Driscoll. World Rugby demands a guy who could bring back the running game that is seldom seen these days.
