To be fair its not the coming 4th that hurts the most (though it is painful it should also be remembered that it is joint 2nd). What matters more to me is the manner in which we did it.

We were predictable, refused to change tactics even when it was obvious to all that things weren't working. We have become one dimensional.

And since we're talking just losing out, remember we were lucky to beat Italy in the end.

Now I don't want to talk us down - I'm sure Gats and co have seen the limitations and are ready to do something about them, and we have a huge amount of talent that can compete at the top table. BUT there is no point sugar coating things, it was a poor season for Welsh rugby on the pitch and things need to improve next season.

I think some of the criticism, from an outsider's perspective, is a LITTLE bit harsh. If that last penalty goes through against Ireland, then we are talking about a Welsh triple crown. The Welsh were THIS close to scoring at the end of the game at the Stade de France, and lost a nail-biter to the French. in the end, the difference between winning a consecutive grand slam and being in 4th was pretty miniscule.

That semi-final match of Cardiff's against Leicester was one of the most amazing games I have ever seen-particularly the insane last 7 minutes of regularion.(penalties are a crappy way to decide a match-maybe play overtime with 12 players aside?) Ok, the Welsh year in rugby, 2009 version was not on a par with 2008-but I still think the glass looks half full more than half empty.

Very true!

I'm sure we will be back - there is too much talent there not to be. We were only one kick away from a tripple crown this year.

But all in all it's been a poor season for Welsh rugby, with only the desperately unlucky Cardiff Blues providing any sort of highlight.

Next season will see us win everything though!

Heads up, Welsh rugby will be back. We Irish had a really bad couple of years but it's come good for us in 2009. The ebb and flow of sporting success affects all teams.

Besides, you could be Scottish, eh?
